‘You are what you eat’ is a common phrase, but one that I believe is not true. You are NOT what you eat, but you are what you assimilate. It’s the foods that your body manages to break down and use that are important, not the ones you put in your mouth.

I think that many people know what is ‘good for you’ and what is ‘bad for you’ but how do we know for sure that what we are eating is being translated by the body into nutrients that it requires.

This is where I start, is what you are doing suiting you? Nutrition is specific to an individual. We all know people who are perfectly healthy and full of energy, yet they seem to eat the most unhealthy foods, yet others can eat a seemingly healthy diet, yet lack vitality. It all depends on individual constitution, and the capacity of the person to digest foods that they eat.

To establish how your body is coping with the foods you are eating and the lifestyle you are living, I first do a Body Mineral Check. The Mineral Check is done by sending a small sample of your hair to a lab to be analysed for its mineral content. Minerals contained in hair indicate the mineral status of the body tissues. Unlike blood samples, which tell us the status during the instant the sample was taken, hair tells us the average mineral status over 4-8 weeks. The hair mineral analysis tells me the minerals that are in your tissues, it is a reliable indicator of the nutrients that have been absorbed into your body and a definitive guide to the status of your system.
